Dive into Divergent

Abnegation the selfless, Dauntless the brave, Erudite the intelligent, Candor the honest, and Amity the peaceful. Which would you choose? Would you stay in the one you've known your whole life? Or would you branch out to something better or possibly worse? Beatrice Prior has a huge decision to make since she’s 16 years old now. She has to decide the fate of the rest of her life. With her strange test results, she decides to pick the most surprising faction of all. Here she has to jump on trains and leap into a big hole to be initiated. People here have to fight to stay in the rankings, or they'll be faction less. But this is a whole new world for her. She can look at herself in the mirror without having to worry about being selfish. She can get tattoos and fight people without having a second thought. But what will happen when a war rises and she's in the middle of it? Will she follow through with orders? Faction over blood?  I think this book is a 9/10. It engages the reader every chapter! Especially with an added love interest no one would suspect. To learn more, read Divergent by Veronica Roth.

  1. I really enjoyed the movie 'Divergent' even though I did not read the book, and it made me really love how you started your post by talking about the five factions. You did a good job on describing the book in a short summary that doesn't give any details away. Since you gave the book a 9/10 though, I suggest possibly putting more of your own voice in the post. You wrote a summary but maybe explain why you gave it a 9/10! But overall it is a very well done book summary/rating.

  2. I've read the book and I think you did a good job summarizing. If I hadn't read the book already, it would've made me want to read the book. However, I think next time you summarize, you should focus more on the actual plot (your summary is mostly about the first 1/4 of the book) and not give away details. I also agree with Landon-you should critique the book if you're going to rate it.

  3. I really enjoyed reading your post about Divergent. I really liked how you specifically talked about each faction and said a specific trait for each one. You did a really nice job of generalizing the entire book into one paragraph. But, I think you should focus more on the actual plot of the book to give the readers more of a look into the book.
